Babylon Lite port of the Dude Particle Shooter mini game

The Dark Side consumed me.

For nearly a year I disappeared into the shadows, consumed by a startup project that demanded all of my time, energy, and sanity. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: During that time I wasn’t able to be an active member of the Babylon.js community, and I even managed to miss the release of Babylon.js 9 (which still feels strange to say!).

It’s great to finally be back!

Now that work has slowed down a bit for the summer, I’ve started catching up on everything I’ve missed. One of the first things that caught my attention was Babylon Lite, so I decided to take one of my old projects the Dude Particle Shooter mini-game and port it over using AI (Claude Code, even Fable had a quite hard time so it took me several hours to get everything working) to see what the experience would be like. I updated the whole stack including Webpack, Vue, Quasar…

Besides the port itself, I documented every difference I encountered, the API changes, the pitfalls, and the steps I had to take to make everything work. My hope is that this documentation will save others some time if they’re considering migrating their own Babylon.js projects to Babylon Lite.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, or if you’ve found other interesting Lite-specific patterns during your own migrations.

It’s good to be back.

The migration docs are mega helpful, thanks!

Also, can confirm FPS improvement. Lite version runs smooth whereas old version had a tiny but noticeable input delay on slow machine.

It took me a second to figure out how to lock on and shoot but once that happened it was pretty fun!
