Hi,
How come \uf099 is displaying twitter icon?
Is there a place where I get a list of such codes?

This is called unicode. It is a 1 or 2 byte representation of characters. If a code is represented in a font, it will always be in the same place, but not all fonts have all possible characters.
Try google searching. You can probably use something like this, but if you have a theme a different search will probably be more helpful…
Thank you @JCPalmer, I wondered because there is no unicode character with value F099. I now understand that this magic is done by FontAwesome. I could find the list at https://fontawesome.com/
