I can’t agree more. This was a bug we fixed (the 4.2 behavior was actually buggy. It may have worked in your case but was buggy on other cases.

We are really trying hard to protect backward compatibility as this is core and central for me personally. Unfortunately, we are only humans and sometimes we fail.

This is a failure.

What I can promise you is that we will try to improve, and we are always here to help in the meantime

I’m seeing a similar behavior as described in this thread in Babylon 6. I’ve updated the playground with a model I see it on https://playground.babylonjs.com/#YIU90M#1029

It is not related. In your case, the error is in the console:

Babylon can only merge meshes with the same kind of attributes.
