Developer - 3D interior design web app

Tilelook is an international marketplace for interiors and tiles designs where you can find a vast online database of real products for floorings, coverings and furniture by 500+ global brands. Online since 2014, it now counts 90.000 registered users and more than 2.000 paying subscribers. The paid subscription service includes a 3D CAD-like tool for creating custom 3D rooms, which is connected to the vast online product library on tilelook.com, and allows users to generate photo-realistic renders and calculate prices and quantities for their projects, in order to assist sales in their showrooms and online.

We are currently working on a new web-based version of the 3D design tool (originally developed as a desktop Java application) and we’re looking for a new developer to join our team. The application will include features such as:

  • 2D CAD-like inputs for rapid designing of rooms
  • Tile layout creation using pattern/repetition algorithms
  • 3D previewing of the scene with basic user’s interaction
  • Simple 3D modelling and object placement tools
  • Photo-realistic rendering using third party library
  • Interaction via API with tilelook.com

We are looking for a developer willing to work part-time remotely on a long-term basis, with the main objective of completing, expanding and maintaining the 3D design tool, but also potentially contributing to other aspects of the Tilelook platform. The job requires to be in constant communication with the project manager and other team members (via chat, email, or other). Developers are given access to a shared code repository, documentation and other collaboration resources. Tasks are agreed upon periodically and compensation can be agreed as an hourly tariff.

The person should have knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • 2D/3D Computer Graphics
  • Linear Algebra and Analytic Geometry
  • React or Vue framework
  • Typescript
  • WebGL
