Hello again, Babylon.js community!

I’m back with a new physics game to share with you all: Momentum Cup 2026.

As a physics teacher, I wanted to turn the traditional Brazilian tabletop game of button football (futebol de botão) into a browser simulation to teach linear momentum and conservation of energy.

Hey this was actually pretty fun!

Couple of things I found while playing:

  • CPU made the same plays over and over again. After kick off it’d do the same 3 shots and score.
  • I think there are too many turns per player, and overall it takes too long for a match.
  • You could also run the timer down by not kicking and wasting your turns, or just kicking back an forth. Maybe there should be a short timer for each turn, so player’s are rushed to take shots and risk loosing posession.

The physics felt really on point, and controls worked perfectly :slight_smile:

This game is actually based on a traditional Brazilian tabletop game called “futebol de botão” (specifically the 12-touch rule). It’s a game where you take your time to build passing plays, which is why it feels slower and has no turn timer (we usually rely on fair play in real life, but a Blitz/Arcade mode with a shot-clock is a great idea!). I balanced the 6-minute match so we get realistic, low soccer scores like 2-0 or 3-1.
You got me on the CPU kickoff repetition. I definitely need to add more variety to its initial decisions.
If you want to see how the physical tabletop game is played by pros here in Brazil, search for “Futebol de Mesa 12 Toques” on YouTube. It’s surprisingly slow and calculated!

Okay that makes sense, I really wasn’t aware of this game so thanks!

I watched some videos this game is super cool :smiley: I might need to find some Brazilians living around and try to play this haha
