Just imagine how fast could every software run if was written with the approch we used with Amiga. Optimized code to the last bit. Counting how many CPU cycles takes something to run and trying to strip down as many cycles as we could.

Do you remember what was located at $bfe001, bit 6 ?

Iā€™m curious how many changes would AI propose to the babylon.js codebase.

When Code Climate doesnā€™t allow you tu merge your pull request

The biggest issue with AI (on the subject of coding), is that itā€™s trained on code snippets written by humans, and probably like 90% of that is pure trash when it comes to production use :joy:

To simplify this:

The biggest problem with AI are humans.

And why not? I mean, Iā€™m happy to see that Iā€™m not the only one feeling ā€˜offendedā€™ by this :face_with_hand_over_mouth: I mean, personally, Iā€™d gladly call for a REVOLUTION :imp: Iā€™m just sick and tired of the current state. Someone needs to FORCE these guys to just simply follow the rules everyone else does. I mean, after 2 decades, we (the EU-court) finally did it with their fancy proprietary charging devices. Now I say our next battle should be: Have Safari finally comply with WebGL2/WebGPU rules :crossed_swords: :guardswoman:

Thatā€™s so ā€˜hellishlyā€™ :imp: true (in my opinion). We tend to forget that the AI is created by humans. We tend to forget that these ā€˜humansā€™ are driven by ā€˜marketingā€™ and ā€˜businessā€™. We are feeding the AI with junk food and mass culture. Seriously, what good can come out of this? :fearful:

Yeah, sureā€¦ Now, can you just let me know WHO is this client of yours that actually lets you go through the entire process? :joy: ā€¦A direct contact with email will suffice  :joy:

Hehe mostly true yes, before I would have to invent such time in between eveything else. Lately for the last 5 or 6 years I am very fortunate to only work for one client now and while he knows nothing about code or anything , he understands business. So when such things need to happen I just spell it out in lingo that makes sense to him, eg ā€¦ I tell him i need to do refactoring every now and then because it results in me being more efficient - being able to do things in shorter time frame and with less chance for mistakes. Saving time - saving money

That said ā€¦ it doesnt make doing the refactor any easier ā€¦ LOL . I do code all his 3D stuff but im also constantly working on an inhouse proprietary analytics app , which I started in December. So in 7 months I have already done 3 Major refactors of some of the main data processing loops in some of the reports since that time.

Iā€™ve just realized the true impact of this!

Lucky you :four_leaf_clover: Better keepā€™on nurturing this relation. There arenā€™t just as many of these

That sounds very familiar to me. I have been working for 10 years on an ā€˜in-houseā€™ lead capture app for my biggest client. Only because we built trust and I wanted the others (more design oriented) projects. So, I agreed to play the ā€˜in-house mini-salesforceā€™ for many years (until covid). Canā€™t say I enjoyed it. And collecting leads for a leader global company is always a bother and a source of anxiety :fearful: For you have to monitor the thingy closely and whenever something/anything happens, I was always thinking of the worst case scenario :scream: I was lucky enough, it didnā€™t happen but I do sleep better now that Iā€™ve given up on this :relieved:ā€¦ I have a lot less income though :money_mouth_face:  I suppose you canā€™t have it all, can you?

Just to chime in here from the ā€œother sideā€

I have received so much support from quite a few of you here, and itā€™s be extremely surprising how patient and helpful people are in this forum (which is generally not the case in a lot of other dev based communitites).

Being stuck on something for days I canā€™t figure out, and then receiving an answer in usually less than a few hours is always incredible

So yeah I just wanted to post in here that I think itā€™s not said enough how much all of your help is appreciated!:hugs::v:

Agreed. Already, I consider myself as a ā€œpatientā€ guy, and still I often feel like other people here are even more patient, sometimes keeping cool while I would have been a bit annoyed :joy:

Agreed as well, I think the reason is that many people here are passionate  . Thatā€™s all it takes
