Yes. It is possible. Here is an example.
The animated model may be a bit large, and will take a while to load.

This is probably mind breaking in AR 
I don’t have a device that supports WebXr ar, but I have made a vr version.
Press and hold the trigger, and now he will follow the orientation of your controller.
