Allow users to set forum badges

erm, not sure if the forum package supports. But I think it would be useful to let users set badges on their profiles or somewhere visible to indicate what aspect of bjs they use/invested in/represent. Given that the team seems to be expanding as well, I can’t remember whos who, other than the few I can count on one hand (sorry!). It would be nice to differentiate who’s human as well…

Examples: Havok user, Framegraph user, Material dev, PBR user, Origin dev, UI dev, Native dev, Particles dev, CSM user, XR dev, XR user, Sprite user, WebGPU dev etc.

You mean something to add note from your standpoint right? Like you add info for an user but private to you?

I am reserving the badge “Potato”!

Also known as tags right? As in these tags are what that user’s interests are, etc?

Yes I think so

But unfortunately it is more an ask for Discourse than to us

Very true  This is about as close as one can get without them making changes. Otherwise there’s the option of users joining groups and auto assigning badging based on that but nothing user created.

I mean something that could be visible on hover/click on profile or if not too intrusive at end of posts. eg: little icons below the OP https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=891025787

Yes! I recall seeing users of Discourse? with their own badges, just can’t remember the name of that forum right now, or maybe its not Discourse…hmm. Its an option where you set once in signature and it auto appends to all your posts. I wonder if there is a dropdown of icons forum admin can set, so we don’t end up with threads made by Potato user, replied by Potato dev, closed by Potato admin

If you know a place where this option is documented I can try to enable it

Apparently, its available as a plugin: Discourse Signatures - Plugin - Discourse Meta
But it does seem to be buggy, and not easily customizable to bjs framework needs…hmm.

Yeah seems not usable on our configuration anyway as we only have access to officially supported addons

Isn’t this kind of what we are looking for?
