IdleQuest is a from-scratch recreation of the 1999 MMORPG classic EverQuest, featuring a real-time MMO server written in Go, a 3D game client built with Babylon.js, and a faithfully recreated interface using React. I spent hundreds of hours extracting, cleaning, and organizing original game data and assets to recapture the look, feel, and experience of the original. There are still plenty of bugs but there is a ton of cool features and content.
I just checked my first commit for this and August 24th will be the two year anniversary of when I started. It’s been a lot of fun to work on! There’s a link to my discord on the site for anyone with questions in case I forget to check back here.
1999 Everquest, 2026 Attention Span is the sentence of the month for me
As someone who got seriously addicted to Universal Paperclips, I’m scared of clicking try on this (joking, I actually tried and it looks great, impressive effort!)
Beep, hey Brynn Congrats on getting this all the way through, awesome job on the look and feel and so far looks like things check out swimmingly. I willingly dropped the ball with Requiem with this goal, glad to see it over the finish line! Hmu anytime you want to spitball - I’ve been making strides in the evolution of the original project and have optimized scene, actor and net to scale to infinity and beyond.
