Hi - I wanted to introduce my Mindless Creator software; which is intended to be an easy way to generate different assets for games and 3D projects. Its at a very early, buggy stage though (pre-release, but you can play with it).
I put up another post for the mindless materials part, but did not give anything about how to use it, so I have created a video showing how to mix materials to create new ones.
OK… so let me put this straight. I’m no fan of editors. So committing me to it is quite challenging With that said, I have to appreciate your efforts and creativity (and skills) in this development. Particularly, the handling of noise and masking is something (I believe) quite rare (in a one-step/two-steps process). So let me just upvote this as an encouragement to pursue with this.
In the end, I might eventually change my view on the use of (yet just another editor) to create materials If you manage to do, you can record this as a success (as it nearly never happens
Yeah I kind of agree when it comes to materials - its more of a passion project at this point. The main purpose of MindlessCreator was all about the 3D models - I’ll get back to them soon!
I had an old slow one written in javascript and always wanted to make it work using the GPU, so I finally achieved it! And it probably won’t ever be good enough for anyone to use but oh well…
Don’t get me wrong. I am impressed by your skills and dedication to the project. I wouldn’t be able to code even just a portion of it And then, I’m also no ‘reference user’ Rather the kind of guy that wants to do everything from scratch/custom (whether code or design). I very rarely use templates, plugins or add-ons… I’m also the kind of person that thinks twice before asking the AI (as I do know that a request to the AI takes about 10 times the resources than making the same request in search/browser). So, I’d rather think that I do not represent the majority of people/users
Yes, passion Most of us, regular users and members in this forum (incl. the Team) are passionate people. Nearly of the projects I did with BJS in the past 4 years are simply based on passion. So, I can perfectly understand that… and then, support it
As a designer (and despite for the above) I’m still keeping an eye on any improvement/tool that would make my work easier. Typically, when it comes to creating materials and textures for a scene, there’s still a lot of ‘execution’ work. All of the pro-tools I use are certainly great for creating a new material… but they are mostly all lacking the sense and process for ‘productivity’.
Say you would have a tool where you could save your presets for all material properties, save a library of textures, etc… and next - with just a few clicks - batch process create alternate versions (or cloned versions with some changes in properties or texture source). I believe there’s certainly still space for this kind of solution. To the point where some bigger studios actually developped (and are still developing and using) their own solution for this. Eventually in a larger project, we are speaking of hundreds of materials and probably 1k or more textures. In which case, the handling of this without appropriate tools for productivity becomes just really painful and costly. So, I’ll keep looking waiting for the solution that will eventually make my life easier… lazy me
