Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy (Interactive Map)

Hey everyone!

I thought I’d share one of our most recent projects: https://3d.fundyforce.ca/

Just a little info about myself; I’m co-founder and lead developer at 3D Wave Design. We’re an indigenous (Native) owned and operated company from Atlantic Canada that visualizes environmental data for risk management, emergency management training and climate change communication. We’ve been using BabylonJS as our 3D WebGL framework for several years now, and I can’t emphasis enough how great the technology and team behind it are.

The project I shared above is for the Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy (FORCE); an organization that is Canada’s lead research facility for tidal stream technology. We used our interactive map to show the public how safe and unobtrusive these turbines would be for fish and wildlife:

That map also features high resolution bathymetric data of the ocean floor:

Again, I’d like to shout out to the development team for their awesome work on BabylonJS! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@3D_Wave_Design this is incredibly cool! I’m a bit of a bathymetry data nerd so I LOVE seeing the real ocean floor data! So rad!

Any objection to me adding this to the community web page and promoting it on twitter?

What’s your twitter username?

That’d be awesome! Twitter is the one social media platform I’m not really on (and I really should be haha). Here are some other links though:

Much appreciated
