Inpenetrable cube

I have the following setting :

1 - Big cube emitting a color from inner faces.
2 - Smaller cube.
3 - Everything else inside the smaller cube.

What I want to do is have the smaller cube not be affected by the emission of the bigger cube. So everything inside the smaller cube should not feel the emission but once outside it they should feel it. Not sure if I was clear. Does anyone have any idea how to do this? I thought that disabling lighting to the smaller cube it should work but seems like it doesn’t.
