Sorry, took me a while. I have just played a couple of levels. Here are some thoughts / observations. I leave feedback here because this pushes the thread and gets you more views/clicks :wink:

  • I like the sound effects and music. Nice 3d models and mix of sprites. Maybe there could be a tad bit more glowy/shiny stuff (e.g. BABYLON.GlowLayer)?

  • The overall player control (or controller) is pretty cool, too. The direction circle thingy is a great idea. Mouse steering works great.

  • Loading time is a bit high. Loading the main menu takes way too long. It is just a couple of buttons. If loading the actual game, I will get a first loading screen to “Destroy all enemies”. At this point you think gameplay is starting. But then another loading screen until the game really starts. Loading times from mission to mission is great!
    Super awesome: if I die and restart, there is no loading but instant respawing. Thank you for that! This is quality game design. :+1:

  • I do not like Mouse controls: I need to accelerate/decelerate with my mousewheel and shoot with my left mouse button. On my current mouse, I have to click the left button and scroll the wheel with my index finger (if I don’t want to get a cramp after 5 mintues). Therefore I cannot shoot and accelerate at the same time :frowning: Ok, after a while you get used to it. But I still do not like it. Why not WASD?

  • So I have just played a couple of levels. And I started to wonder: what is the goal of the game? And what is my progress? Can I get shields, too? Or missles? There is a button for it. But how to obtain? Remember the the dos game “Raptor”? A buying screen after each mission could be a nice addition.
    Okay, wait. A couple of minutes later… It said that I unlocked a laser gun. Where is it?? I want it. Okay, yeah, I automatically got it in the next defend mission.

  • Unfortunately, in the jump gate mission the game froze. :open_mouth: Happened when I was shooting it. No other enemies left. Before I also placed some mines around the gate. I needed to alt-f4 out of the game.

Some other observations.

  • Hit feedback is lacking on asteroids. In fact, bullets go right through asteroids??

  • The arrow on the aim/shoot direction circle wiggles like crazy sometimes.

  • lol, killing enemies with mines is fun :smiling_imp:

  • Haha, enemy got hit by an asteroid :smiley:

  • When I destroy an enemy, the debris just spawns in place. This feels weird because, I think, the debris should move a bit in the direction the enemy was moving.

  • Enemy AI?? I can just fly near them, stop and then shoot at them without getting any counter fire, no evasion, no fleeing, or anything. AI works better in defend missions.

Hi, WASD seemed less natural to me, actually most of the time you’ll be going at speed 5, the progression of the game is determined by the difficulty, and every 6 levels or so there is an unlockable item (navr or turret), the second ship is unlocked at level 15, it’s much more fun, because it has a shield and launches missiles. The mines don’t attack the bosses. When the game loads for the first time, it loads the menu scene, it shouldn’t take that long but it does. The second loading screen is because the “pieces” of the ships that are going to explode (red and green) are loaded. I had to limit the AI ​​quite a bit or the game became impassable.

As for the pieces having to go in the direction of the ship, I tried it and it didn’t work with Havok, I didn’t have more time, it only happened if the ship was going at speed >2.

Sometimes when hitting bosses, the player gets stuck against (the jump gate in your case). It’s a known bug (from havok or rayast or mine :sweat_smile:), maybe I’ll work on it… (you can also play with the Xbox controller)

Green enemies are more dangerous than red enemies, there is friendly fire between enemies, bullets should NOT go through asteroids, (maybe big ones, I’ll probably remove big asteroids from the game)
