color theory is one crazy rabbit hole … be warned haha

Espcially when it comes to spaces defining human perception like LAB space, just that page has links to other crazy things like this for example :

or things like how jpeg compression understands the human eye is more sensitive to changes in luminace than color and uses such logic when doing reduction.

Even that is not straight forward because we are more sensitive to changes in dark tones than we are to similar changes in bright tones

or we are more sensitive to color patterns in low spatial frequencies than luminance patterns ( i dont even know what that means lol )

anyway so I just have to take their word for it if they say its something better.

I don’t think so. I think ParaView is still a researcher’s weapon of choice for scientific data viz, and I recognize ParaView’s default colors for the axes. So probably something ParaView-ish :slight_smile:
